ABOUT DAY1
BRISBANE’S DAY1. LIVE AT METRO CITY.
For DAY1, it started with BOSS. The 2019 breakout introduced the South Brisbane rapper’s melodic approach, pairing a memorable hook with a delivery that made the record instantly recognisable. Riding followed, building on the sound that first brought him to wider attention.
His 2021 debut EP Day Uno gave him room to explore beyond those early singles, including the R&B influence heard on King of My City. He cites Speaker Knockerz, PnB Rock and A Boogie Wit da Hoodie among his influences, with a particular interest in melody and catchy choruses.
MBAPPÉ, featuring Kahukx, brought a faster, club-focused sound and earned an ARIA nomination for Best Hip Hop / Rap Release. An international remix with Jay1 and Gambino La MG followed. His catalogue also includes Have You Ever, Southside Dilla and Golden Tan.
His connection with Hooligan Hefs spans releases including Magic and their rework of She Will, which has reached over 5 million streams across all platforms. Alongside the solo records, those collaborations have become a significant part of his catalogue.
Now with his latest release ONE OF A KIND and recent track WE$TSKI, DAY1 joins Youngn Lipz at Metro City with years of music behind him and new material to bring to Perth.
Joining Youngn Lipz and DAY1 are Milardi and ASANTÈ.
ALSO PERFORMING
MILARDI
Perth artist Milardi brings his Armenian and Italian heritage to a sound that moves between hard-hitting beats and smooth melodies. In just over a year, he has begun attracting attention for his versatility, with music that draws on both sides of his background. Catch him live at Metro City as he continues to build his name.
ASANTÈ
A change of pace, a different flow, a sharper delivery. Perth’s ASANTÈ moves between the intimacy of R&B, the melody of rap and the more direct phrasing of UK-inspired sounds. His approach shifts with the track, giving personal songwriting as much room as the bars. At Metro City, he brings that range to the local support lineup.
